Hao did I review the blog

Journey to the Blog

Hi, everyone! Welcome to my blog. As a typical procrastinator, I am finishing my first blog very late. 😓 Actually, there is a blog-like platform (but with more other functions) in China people in my age used to use quite often from primary to high schools.

Unlike this blog, we did that mainly to pretend to be cool and unusual. So when we were getting mature, we realised how stupid we were and gave up that platform (at least for me). It seems to be a good opportunity to start a real blog here 😂.

Review of David Petrie's Blog

In the ICT class last Friday, we were given many blogs to learn and review.  David Petrie's was the one for me and I did find many aspects I like and I can learn from it. First of all, I especially like the way he organised the blog.

Organization and Layout 😊

Personally, I am not the kind of people who like reading a lot, let alone I am not a native English speaker. So a page that is full of words and texts will make me tired and unwilling to read (However I am doing this to my own blog 😭). For David's blog, he made each his blog into separate box and there is enough space between the boxes so that it won't look very untidy or cluttered. Moreover, the titles of his blogs are simple and prominently displayed so that I can easily choose the one I want to further read. Besides, there is always a simple but attracting picture in the box which makes the blog less dull.

Content and Features😊

What we can find in his blog is also obvious. Just as shown in his blog address, it is EFL related. He also gives a about of his blog and many tags on the right of the page to show the content.

For me I think his blogs are like a journal, a diary, a discuss, or a review. By the way, I find the rating system of his blog very interesting.

Ease of use and Navigation😐

For this part, I felt it not as good as the first two parts. Though he made several categories on the headline, he didn't design a homepage button (or at least I didn't find it), which makes it very difficult to be back to the original page. But at least it is just difficult to be back, not unable to.

Finally

Over all, David's blog is quite good and I can learn a lot from it. And I really like its the simplicity, organiztion and structure. In the end, just to have a test of uploading videos (The platform that I mentioned is Qzone). See u next time😉

  2. Hi Hao- what a brilliant name for your blog :D, very impressive! Your review is nice and informative- constructive as well. The video you linked about most popular social media over time is absolutely fascinating, I shed a single tear whilst reliving the death of Myspace :)

  3. Hi Hao, I liked your blogging style! The video about social media is fascinating, it shows how the most popular things can be forgotten so easily.. MySpace reminded me about this

  4. Hello Hao,
What a great name for a blog and also for your first blog post! I love the fact that you can use the similarity of your name to that useful English word to make us all smile! It was interesting to know about your previous blogging attempt - I assume that the picture was a screenshot? I'm sure yours actually WAS cool :) Thanks for the review of David Petrie's blog. I'm glad you found it useful, if a bit cautionary (always leave your reader a way to get 'home'!). Your own blog is very clear and well laidout - I like the useful subheadings and the screenshots. The use of emojis also works well and fits your style. I was mesmerised by the video of the changing fortunes of different social media - I wonder what it would look like today? This is a great start - well done!

  6. Hi Hao. Yes, I also think Qzone in China is pretty similar to the blog. And I like your title and all the emojis you used in the post. The structure of your post is very clear and easy to read. I really enjoy reading your post.
